Italian Language & Culture: Building Bridges in California

Federico Pacchioni joined distinguished educators at the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles for the opening panel of the Week of the Italian Language in the World. The panel, titled “Italian Language & Culture: Building Bridges in California,” focused on the contemporary challenges and potential of Italian studies and was moderated by Hilary Stern, Executive Director of Fondazione Italia, and James M. Fortney, Associate Professor of Italian at USC Dornsife. Among the speakers were Nina Bjekovic, Director of Language Programs in the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies at UCLA; Clorinda Donato, Director of the Clorinda Donato Center for Global Romance Languages and Translation Studies at CSULB; and Nancy Hong, Director of Dual Language Immersion and English Learner Services at Glendale Unified School District.
